Roger's Airport is now today's Honolulu International Airport. In 1941 Inter-Island Airways, (today's Hawaiian Airlines) was phasing in new DC-3's. On December 7, when Pearl Harbor was attacked, a Japanese Zero flew by strafing Rogers Airport and struck their DC-3 in the cockpit, setting it afire. Coming back for a second pass, the Zero struck the cockpit again, this time setting off a fire extinguisher, which put the fire out. From "Ripley's Believe It Or Not!" |
