The arrival of  PAA's S-42 in Honolulu in November, 1935 was a major crowd       attracting event as it flew past Diamond Head. The 2270 mile flight took 21. 5 hours at an average speed of 130 mph.

Directly below the S-42 is the Waikiki   Natatorium which was once a major sport swimming facility and World War I

Memorial. Ironically after decades of

neglect, its now restored exterior looks as good as it did in the great years when Olympic champion Duke Kahanamoku once swam there.
