A Navy UF-2G Albatross, a faster, undated version of the original Albatross design. During the Korean War an Albatross was involved in a dramatic 1954 rescue of airline passengers shot down by Communist Chinese MiG fighters. During the Vietnam War the Albatross also was involved in daring downed pilot rescue missions until they were later replaced by helicopters. And so, the Era closes. |
