The Albatross really got around, coming also in Air Force and Coast Guard flavors. As an amphibian it could go almost anywhere. Many Americans can remember seeing the Coast Guard Albatross's on coastal patrol along beaches and sea ways all around the U.S. These great and very familiar seaplanes were finally replaced by the helicopter (where Mr. Sikorsky came back in again). |
