The Classic Pan Am Clipper Era. Is this the REAL "Fantasy Island"? Yes, Virginia, there was a Fantasy Island and it existed actually on a peninsula of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Imagine having a beautiful Hawaiian Inn by calm seas with pleasure craft and a large state-of-the-art luxury seaplane parked out front- ready to fly you out to further beautiful tropic islands and even on to exotic Asian ports. It was, of course, part of Pan Am's great Vision of how people would travel in the future, except that they were already doing it very well over 70 years ago. |
