bi-wing airplane that the WW-II U.S. Navy had relegated to training schools, yet, they were called back to Pacific wartime duties because they had an amazingly short take-off and landing capability- the closest thing to a helicopter

(and a technology not yet widely available).

They did great stunts like landing in small,

shallow rivers to get crashed pilots out of

jungles and for "special recon mission" work.
